Cipha Sounds has been a mainstay at Hot 97 for the past 17 years. Today it was announced that he was no longer with the team.
“Effective immediately,” Cipha Sounds is “no longer with WQHT Hot 97 FM,” the station said in a statement to BET.com. “We wish him well on his future endeavors.”
While Hot 97 didn’t elaborate, the New York Daily News wrote that Cipha was fired, suggesting it may have had something to do with him voicing his displeasure with the direction the station was headed in.
